The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party. It has approximately 300,000 members from all parts of Great Britain, and from all walks of life. There is no typical Labour Party member; but we all hold core ideals � those of putting people before privilege, of building an inclusive and tolerant society, of a government which is active in combating poverty and maintaining decent public services.

The Labour Party is made up of several different bodies: the membership, the trade unions, and the socialist societies. The Labour Party is represented at different levels, from your local ward area, to your constituency, council or borough area, region and nationally.
